It's currently unknown what features the Remastered Collection will overhaul but improved textures, enhanced lighting and updated character models will likely make the list. While Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are both playable by today's standards, they have aged visually. Half-Life 2 is most notable for revolutionizing in-game physics, implementing a system that allowed objects to interact with one another in a realistic fashion. An immersive first-person shooter, the games cast the player as Gordon Freeman, a scientist in a dystopian world attempting to survive hostile aliens, killer zombies and a fascist state. Valve has previously shown that it is open to developers iterating on the Half-Life franchise, with the commercial release of Black Mesa, a fan-made mod of the first game in the series. Whether this project amounts to an update for the original series of games or a brand new release remains unknown. There's currently no release date for Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection, but McVickers does state that it will arrive "soon." "I have been able to confirm this projects legitimacy, being made by the former Half-Life 2: Update team," reads the follow-up tweet.
While the game was initially leaked via a listing in Steam Database, McVickers has since confirmed that it does exist.
